St. Louis, MO – Monday morning was a first for commuters who are used to taking Forest Park Parkway. They now have to find a new route for at least the next 2 years.

As construction begins on the Cross County Metrolink Extension the Parkway will be closed from Big Bend in University City to Central Avenue in Clayton.

Linda Hancock Ross with Metro says there are alternate routes.

What we're basically asking motorists to do is to use I-64 or Olive as your primary route," she said. "Big Bend will remain open because it's a north south route. Individuals can still go north and south there with no problem."

Forest Park Parkway should be reopened some time in 2005.
