St. Louis, MO – A former St. Louis police detective has pleaded guilty to accepting bribes to falsify vehicle titles for a city tow lot.
Kevin Shade pleaded guilty on Monday to committing mail fraud for
S & H Parking Systems.
The fraudulent inspections allowed S & H to get regular titles -- rather than salvage titles -- for vehicles that had been damaged. Shade took kickbacks in exchange for this service.
The tow lot's manager -- and former Metropolitan Police Officer -- Gregory Shepard was indicted on similar charges on June 25th. Kevin Shade resigned from the police department later that day.
The wide-ranging FBI investigation into fraud between the police department and S & H Towing is expected to include more indictments in the future.
