St. Louis – Late last month, Ladue native Roslyn Schulte was halfway through a tour of duty in Afghanistan when a roadside bomb struck her vehicle.

The Air Force lieutenant was the first female graduate of the Air Force Academy ever to be killed by enemy action.

KWMU's Matt Sepic produced this remembrance for NPR's All Things Considered.
