To The Galapagos! 'Following In Darwin's Footsteps' Begins

St. Louis Public Radio's science reporter Véronique LaCapra sets off this week on a trip to the Galapagos Islands.

LaCapra will document the work of two young women scientists who attend the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Her project, "Following in Darwin's Footsteps," was chosen from over 100 proposals submitted to the PRX STEM Story Project. The UMSL graduate students, one from Ecuador and the other form Papua New Guinea, will research a type of malaria that affects birds.

Host Don Marsh sat down with LaCapra to discuss how she hopes her work will not only highlight interesting science, but also illustrate the changing face of who is doing scientific research.

Véronique LaCapra talks with Don Marsh about her new project, "Following in Darwin's Footsteps."
