Jefferson City, Mo. – State regulators are fining Harrah's casino in North Kansas City $40,000 over some of its marketing practices, including a mailing that reached several problem gamblers.
A Harrah's official says the company will pay the fines without an appeal. General manager Bill Keena also says the marketing trouble has been solved.
At least six problem gamblers complained to the state Gaming Commission this year after they received promotions in the mail from Harrah's North Kansas City.
All six are on the state's voluntary-exclusion list, meaning they agree to be banned from Missouri casinos.
Company officials say a new marketing list with 29,000 names should have been checked for problem gamblers before the ads were mailed.
About 7,300 people are on the voluntary exclusion list.
