Gas Prices Will Rise, Traffic Volume Won't

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – AAA Motor Club says this holiday season will see higher gas prices for Missourians, but fewer cars on the road.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas yesterday was a $1.25, up about three cents since last week.

Analysts predict prices will continue to rise slightly through New Year's, but not because of the holidays. Anxiety in the oil market and rises in the crude oil and wholesale gas prices will be bigger factors.

AAA predicts auto travel will decline about 1% over the holidays, largely because air travel is expected to rise 7%.
