St. Louis, MO – The only trauma center in north St. Louis County will stay open a few months longer than expected. The Post-Dispatch reports the Missouri Foundation for Health has given DePaul health center $500,000 to keep its trauma center open through October.
DePaul runs one of six trauma centers in St. Louis city and County. Administrators say if it closes because of budget cuts other trauma centers could such a larger burden they, too, could close.
The foundation says the money is meant to buy DePaul time to either find more money, or take its time to properly shut down.
