Graphic Design As Communication

UnderConsideration

Graphic designer Bryony Gomez-Palacio’s world revolves around design.  She and her husband, Armin Vit, founded UnderConsideration—a graphic design firm and publishing enterprise all rolled into one.  They also created the influential design blog UnderConsideration and are the authors of four books on design.

Bryony Gomez-Palacio and University of Missouri-St. Louis Associate Professor of DesignJennifer McKnight were Steve Potter’s guests on “Cityscape.”

When asked about the meaning of “design,” most people would think first about appearance and making something “look good.”  But Gomez-Palacio maintains that design is anything that communicates with a person on any level, and its most important purpose is to communicate.

Bryony Gomez-Palacio will speak about her work at a public lecture on February 7, 2013.  In addition to design students and professionals, she urges any creative person who doesn’t relish working 9:00 to 5:00 in a cubicle to attend.
