Hamm's Mother Says She Was Asked To Care for Kids

By AP/KWMU

Clinton, Ill – The mother of a woman accused of drowning her three children in Illinois' Clinton Lake says she was asked to care for two of the children so her daughter could move to St. Louis.

Ann Danison of Clinton later said she couldn't help but wonder if she could have averted the tragedy.

Danison said Amanda Hamm had asked her to temporarily care for her sons so she could move from Clinton to St. Louis with her boyfriend, who's also charged with the children's murders.

Danison said Hamm wanted six-year-old Christopher Hamm to finish his first year of school in Clinton.

Danison said Hamm also asked her to care for three-year-old Austin Brown during that time. But Austin being in preschool, Danison says she told her daughter she thought he'd be better off with his mother and 23-month-old sister, Kyleigh Hamm.

Hamm and Maurice Lagrone Junior are charged with first-degree murder
