Jefferson City, MO – Missouri Governor Bob Holden has appointed state Senator Ken Jacob to another government job.
Jacob lost a bid to be the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor just two weeks ago. The appointment Tuesday would give him a full-time job as chair of the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission. That board hears appeals in workers and unemployment compensation cases. It also holds hearings on matters related to the prevailing wage.
He can't run for State Senate again because of term limits. The Senate is the chamber that has to confirm Jacob's appointment to the new, $94,000 job.
Jacob, an attorney, has clashed with Republican legislative leaders on efforts to limit workers' comp benefits and to restrict injury lawsuits.
