St. Louis, MO. – Missouri Governor Bob Holden will spend Monday in Washington to attend the world's largest biotechnology conference.

About 20,000 industry leaders from more than 50 nations are expected at BIO 2003.

While Missouri is not the only state vying for biotech business, Holden says the state has many advantages that make it a leader in the life sciences.

"Having Washington University right here in the St. Louis area; having University of Missouri so focused on the life scineces; by our investment as a state in the life sciences area, I've said life sciences is one of the two or three key areas as a state that we need to be investing in around Missouri."

Other groups like the Regional Chamber and Growth Association will also have exhibits at the conference to display companies and other organizations in the St. Louis area that focus on biotechnology.

President Bush is scheduled to speak at the convention Monday.
