St. Louis, Mo. – Missouri's Governor toured the state Monday, signing into law a bill aimed at re-investing in downtowns.
The Missouri Downtown Economic Stimulus Act allows cities to keep part of state sales taxes generated in downtown areas, in order to fund downtown civic improvements.
Governor Bob Holden said the bill is a perfect plan for cities. He added the new plan can help all incorporated localities re-vitalize their downtowns, no matter the size. The bill enjoyed bi-partisan support in the house and senate.
