Columbia, Mo. – Republican gubernatorial candidate Kenny Hulshof is proposing to expand health coverage to the uninsured by making it easier for them to buy private insurance plans.

Hulshof said his plan could help low-income parents who were cut off from Medicaid three years ago.

Hulshof calls his plan the Healthy Missouri Access Exchange - or HealthMAX.

Democratic candidate Jay Nixon has made health care his top issue.

He wants to reverse the 2005 Medicaid cuts enacted by Governor Matt Blunt and the Republican-led Legislature.
