Springfield, IL – St. Louis-based Ameren is one step closer to running the second largest electric utility in Illinois.
Regulators in Springfield yesterday approved the $1.4 billion sale of Peoria-based CILCORP to Ameren.
If federal regulators approve the plan, the new company would be called AmerenCILCO.
CILCORP currently serves more than 200,000 natural gas and 200,000 electricity customers in central Illinois.
