Interstate 170 at Delmar Boulevard will be closed this weekend, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.

Crews have to set girders and install portions of the driving surface of a new Delmar bridge.

Andrew Gates, a spokesman for the Missouri Department of Transportation, says traffic will be detoured from the interstate up the ramps at Delmar and then back down onto the interstate.

“Traffic that is on the interstate will not be able to get to Delmar Blvd. while we have the interstate closed. And the folks on Delmar will not be able to access 170 there at Delmar,” said Gates. “Now, they can go up to Olive Blvd and get onto 170 from there though.”

The work is part of a $2 million project to replace the Delmar Boulevard Bridge.

MoDOT closed the bridge in April after an inspection showed it had become unsafe for public use. Construction has been underway since May 20th and the bridge is scheduled to be completed by September 1st.

All lanes of 170 will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
