Jennings police officer struck by own patrol car

By AP/KWMU

Jennings, MO – A police officer from the St. Louis suburb of Jennings was in good condition Friday morning after being nearly run over by his own patrol car.

Officer Sean Connors' squad car was stolen Thursday night, which prompted a manhunt involving hundreds of officers from the region. The suspect was later captured in St. Louis City.

The incident began when police spotted a man suspected in several drug deals and robberies. That man ran away and was able to jump into Connors' vehicle. Connors tried to stop it and was hit. The impact sent him over the hood of his own car.

The suspect drove away, but was later captured in an alley in the 5,200 block of Hodiamont.

The suspect's name has not been released.
