Join us: St. Louis on the Air hosts a live event July 11 with St. Louisan, former MTV VJ Dave Holmes

Jul 11, 2016

You’re invited: On July 11, St. Louis on the Air will take you back to the beloved era of music videos with St. Louisan and former MTV host and runner-up in the network’s inaugural “Wanna Be a VJ” contest. His name is Dave Holmes, a graduate of Saint Louis Priory School, who recently wrote the book “Party of One: A Memoir in 21 Songs.”

In the book, Holmes delves into his misfit childhood in St. Louis, where he grappled with his sexuality while growing up. Since that time, Holmes has worked as a host for MTV, Bravo, FX, contributed to a video project called “It Gets Better” and currently serves as a writer-at-large for Esquire in Los Angeles.

And on July 11, St. Louis on the Air contributor Steve Potter will, in partnership with Left Bank Books, discuss Holmes’ memoir accompanied by some of the songs Holmes wrote about in his book. Reserve your free ticket here.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on July 11 and the recording of the event will begin at 7 p.m., to be broadcast later on St. Louis on the Air. We’ll also broadcast the event on Facebook Live.
