Judge Considers Another Concealed Weapons Objection

By AP / KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Earlier this year, St. Louis Circuit Judge Steven Ohmer ruled the concealed weapons measure violated the state constitution. In November, Ohmer granted an injunction against the implementation of the law. The Missouri Attorney General's office appealed, and the state Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the case January 22. But Ohmer's ruling found no violation of the state's Hancock Amendment, which prohibits the passage of laws without means to fund them. Concealed weapons opponents say it does just that and asked Ohmer to reconsider. A hearing on that matter is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
