Keys And Strings Hour + New Music

Jan 28, 2018

Jazz Unlimited for January 28, 2018 will be “The Keys and Strings Hour + New Music.”  The “Keys and Strings Hour” will visit the Maybeck Recital Hall for piano solos by Jaki Byard, Gene Harris, Monty Alexander, our own John Hicks and James Williams.  In addition, there will be duets between Ralph Sutton & Dick Hyman, Roger Kellaway & Red Mitchell  and Dave McKenna & Grey Sargent.  We will also hear new music from our own St. Louis Stompers, a recently discovered Ella Fitzgerald live performance and a set of Oscar Peterson compositions played on Oscar’s piano by a wide variety of pianists.  Other new music will include new releases by trombonist Steve Davis, the Michael Waldorp big band, Guillermo Nojechowicz, the Heads of State, Dawn Clement, Steve Wilson, Kate McGarry, Steve Hobbs, Bobby Watson and Wayne Escoffery.

The Slide Show contains my photographs of some of the performers heard on this show.

The Archive of this show will be available until the morning of February 4, 2018.
