KWMUs Ben Abell named to STL Radio Hall of Fame

St. Louis, MO – A familiar voice on KWMU is being recognized for his years of work on local radio stations.

Meteorologist Ben Abell is one of nine people being added to the St. Louis Radio Hall of Fame.

Ben has given KWMU listeners the weather since this station went on the air, in 1972. He has also been on other radio stations and gives forecasts for the Radio Information Service for the blind.

His other day job is that of a professor in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Pressure at Saint Louis University. Its from his office at SLU that Ben, equipped with a microphone and dedicated phone line, sends his KWMU weathercasts.

The St. Louis Radio Hall of Fame was established in 2001; past inductees in clude Jack Buck, Haray Caray, Robert Hyland, Chuck Norman, Paul Harvey, and Joe Garagiola.

Abell's fellow inductees this year include longtime KMOX sportscaster Ron Jacober, KSHE disc jockey Lee Coffee, and KYKY morning host Guy Phillips.
