Lambert Will Meet Federal Deadline on Baggage Screening

By T. Weber, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Now that Lambert Airport in St. Louis has federal employees screening passengers, officials are working to next install enough x-ray machines to screen all luggage.
Bill Switzer, who oversees the security at Lambert, says the airport will meet the December 31 deadline to screen all luggage. He says 59 new screening machines will be installed throughout the airport.

Switzer says permanent machines will eventually be installed so workers can screen all checked luggage without crowding the main lobby area. But he adds all carry-on luggage will still have to go through the airports' security checkpoints.
