Jefferson City, Mo. – A Missouri State Representative from St. Louis County is trying to close the loopholes in Missouri's so-called "no call law."
Currently, businesses that are federally regulated or based out of a home are exempt from the legislation and can make unsolicited telephone calls.
But Democrat Rick Johnson says lawmakers need to realize that residents want a law that restricts all sales calls. "I'll work with anybody in any way; anybody who wants to protect the time with everyone's familiy, in the evening, when you're sitting around the dinner table," Johnson said.
Business groups are lobbying against the bill because they say small businesses, which aren't out to dupe consumers, need to be able to make calls.
