Jefferson City, MO – Missourians could buy alcohol a little earlier on Sundays under legislation passed Tuesday in the House.
Alcohol sales on Sundays now start at 11 a.m. except for St. Louis, where sales are allowed after 8 a.m.
The proposals would permit Sunday sales at 9 a.m. at restaurants, hotels and places of entertainment in most of the state. Places around Kansas City's sports stadiums would join St. Louis with 8 a.m. Sunday sales.
The measure goes back to the Senate for consideration of House changes.
Another provision would require adults to register with the state when they buy kegs of beer. Registartion is aimed at curbing underage drinking.
The House version of the bill also sets 19 as the minimum age for exotic dancers. The Senate's version sets 21 as the minimum
age.
