Legislators Wonder If Senator Will Make Veto Session

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, Mo. – With the opening of the Missouri legislature's veto session, some state lawmakers are wondering where Republican Senator Jon Dolan of Lake St. Louis is.

Dolan is a public affairs officer in the Missouri Army National Guard, who is currently serving in Cuba.

His vote has turned out to be the crucial one in the effort to override the governor's veto of the concealed handgun bill.

Trent Watson, Dolan's chief of staff, said the senator would contact him to find out whether he would be able to return in time for the vote.

The House is expected to vote Wednesday, and the Senate Thursday.

The House also will consider whether to override Governor Holden's veto of a bill that would require women to consult with a physician 24 hours before undergoing an abortion.

The House is expected to override both vetoes by comfortable margins.
