St. Louis – Community leaders in South St. Louis County say plans for a new casino approved this week should not be changed.

Pinnacle Entertainment wants to build a $300-million facility in Lemay that would include non-gambling amenities like a bowling alley and a swimming pool.

On Wednesday, St. Louis County Economic Council President Denny Coleman suggested family attractions be built away from the casino.

But Bill Cocos, with the Lemay Development Corporation, says Pinnacle's proposal should stay as it is.

"We're just afraid we're going to limit Pinnacle's options or cause them to have to modify the plan," Cocos said. "We don't want to see it change. We don't want to risk it."

But St. Louis County Economic Council President Denny Coleman says the plan is not a done deal.

"Nobody is going to lose a $300 million investment and 2,000 jobs on where the soccer field goes," Coleman said. "So, I think we're all going to come to an agreement on this."

The plan still needs the approval of the county council and the Missouri Gaming Commission.
