Local, national notables remember Max Starkloff
By Kelsey Proud, Libby Franklin and Mary Edwards
Today's show was about remembering disability rights advocate Max Starkloff, who passed away Dec. 27, 2010. Starkloff is photographed here receiving his star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame on June 20, 2008. (UPI/Bill Greenblatt)
Today's show was a discussion about the life and legacy of Paraquad founder Max Starkloff and his many contributions to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. For more on Starkloff, see our previous story about his memorial.
We heard from some of these voices during the show, but here are some more local and national notables sharing their stories about Starkloff:
Bob Baer - the former CEO of BiState and Metro.
City of St. Louis mayor Francis Slay
Margaret Donnelly - Director of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services
St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley
Marca Bristo - Founder, President and CEO of Access Living, an organization similar to Paraquad in Chicago. (Also a friend of Max and his wife, Colleen).
