Man crashes car into Florissant nursing home

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis – Police say a man intentionally drove his car through the front doors of a Florissant nursing home Friday morning.

The car caught fire, injuring the driver and one nursing home resident.

The incident happened about 6:30 a.m. at the St. Sophia Health and Rehabilitation Center in Florissant.

The injured resident is a 54-year-old woman. Details of her injury were not immediately known. The car driver suffered burns.

Police Chief William Karabas said the mother of the car's driver is a resident of the nursing home.

Karabas said the man was acting bizarre and was told to stay away. But he said the man got in his car and drove through the front doors.

Residents were evacuated for a short time.
