Man Gets One Year In Jail For Contributing To Stepson's Drowning

A man who gave alcohol to minors during an outing along the Meramec River during which one of them drowned will spend a year in jail for his crime.

Todd Combs, 43, will also serve a year of probation after being released from jail. He pleaded guilty to seven counts of child endangerment on May 9 for providing the alcohol to seven minors who were attending a family gathering. His stepson, 12-year-old Christopher Marks, drownedduring that outing.

St. Louis County Police chief Tim Fitch said after Combs was charged in September that there was no way of knowing how much alcohol Marks consumed.
