St. Louis, MO – It took 4 years of planning and compromising but today officials broke ground on the Cross County Metrolink extension. It will run for 8 miles from Forest Park to Shrewsbury.

At the site of the future station on Forsyth at Forest Park Parkway County Executive Buzz Westfall spoke of the importance of collaboration on this $550 million project.

There will be frustrations ahead but in the end it will be a wonderful development and addition to St. Louis area," Westfall said. "There've been frustrations in the past but we've worked our way through them by way of collaboration and compromise and working together. Who knows how long I'll hold this job but I hope it's done in 2006 so I can still be in office when that day comes," he added.

The new line should be complete in March 2006.
