St. Louis, MO – The National Weather Service is predicting that slow moving thunderstorms could dump several more inches of rain on the waterlogged Metro East.
Up to eight inches of water fell Monday night causing flash flooding and damage to residential and commercial properties.
Larry Ringering of the Madison County Emergency Management Agency says that basements in Edwardsville, Collinsville and Glen Carbon have filled with water.
"My biggest concern is the ground is absolutely 100-percent saturated. So, the water has no place to go and it will seek out its path of least resistance," says Ringering.
Ringerings says much of the damage appears to have occurred in Edwardsville. More rain is in the forecast for the Metro East this evening.
The National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for Bond, Macoupin, Madison and Montgomery counties.
