Mascoutah, Ill. – MidAmerica Airport near Mascoutah is about to get its first major tenant.
A corporate-aircraft repair company based in Missouri has broken ground on a $ 1.5 million repair center. MidAmerica director Tim Cantwell says Aviation Material and
Technical Support of Chesterfield expects to generate one thousand takeoffs and landings a month. That's up from nearly zero now.
The new center is expected to open in March. Aviation Material signed a 25-year lease.
The $330 million MidAmerica Airport 20 miles east of St. Louis has been little-used since it opened in 1997 as an
alternative to busy Lambert Airport in St. Louis.
