St. Louis – St. Louis Rams minority owner Stan Kroenke has decided to exercise his right of first refusal and try to buy the remaining 60 percent share of the football team.
Kroenke went public with his plans Monday. His move comes despite the fact that
Illinois businessman Shahid Khan reached a purchase agreement with majority owners Chip Rosenbloom and his sister, Lucia Rodriguez on Feb. 11.
From that point Kroenke had 60 days to decide whether to keep his 40 percent share, sell it, or push to buy the team entirely.
Complicating the issue is Kroenke's ownership of the NBA's Denver Nuggets and the NHL's Colorado Avalanche. NFL rules prohibit cross-ownership.
The NFL said it'll review the proposal once the paperwork arrives.
Shahid Kahn said he respects Kroenke, but remains committed to buying a controlling share of the Rams.
