St. Louis – A Marine missing in Iraq who was originally listed as being from St. Louis is instead from Gallatin, Tenn.
A Marine Corps spokesman in St. Louis says a Defense Department list put out yesterday showing Lance Corporal Patrick Nixon as from St. Louis was mistaken.
Captain Ricardo Matus says he does not know know how the mistake was made or if Nixon has any connection to St. Louis.
The Pentagon says a search and rescue effort is ongoing. The Marines were fighting March 23rd on the outskirts of An Nasiriyah.
Nixon, 21, is assigned to the First Battalion, Second Marine Regiment of the Second Marine Expeditionary Brigade. It's
based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
