Missouri 2010 session ends today

>

By Marshall Griffin, St. Louis Public Radio

Jefferson City, Mo. – The final day of the 2010 Missouri legislative session has arrived, and lawmakers have passed several bills in the past 24 hours, while some remain in doubt.

One of the bigger surprises is the passage of legislation placing new restrictions on Missouri's adult entertainment industry. The House passed the bill after holding it for three months, then the Senate passed it a few hours later. It now goes to Governor Nixon.

The House also sent to the governor a bill that outlaws the sale of K2, a group of chemical compounds that mimics the effects of marijuana.

Lawmakers also passed a bill allowing circuit courts to create separate courts for handling DWI cases.

Still unfinished: an ethics bill that does not cap campaign contributions and legislation expanding the information women must be given before undergoing an abortion. The Senate passed the ethics bill late last night, and the House is expected to take it up later today.

The 2010 legislative session ends today at 6:00 p.m.
