Missouri Arts Council Will Tour State To Paint Ideal Picture Of Next 50 Years

Missouri Arts Council

How can we ensure that the arts thrive in Missouri during the next five decades? The Missouri Arts Council is embarking on a statewide tour to find out.

The project is called Next50.It involves Council representatives holding public conversations in eight cities around Missouri, starting tonight in Kansas City. Columbia is the next stop, on Sept. 16, followed by Cape Girardeau, St. Joseph, Hannibal, Joplin, Springfield, and finally, St. Louis, on Oct. 6. The St. Louis gathering will be an evening meeting held at the Regional Arts Commission.

The general public is invited, along with arts professionals and public office-holders. Questions to consider include:

  • What would encourage the arts to flourish in this community?
  • What would draw more people to participate?
  • What should a perfect state or community arts agency provide?

Feedback will help formulate the Council’s upcoming strategic plan. You can find more information atthe Missouri Arts Council website.
