Jefferson City, Mo. – Missouri will soon have two new U.S. Attorneys.
Richard Callahan will serve the state's Eastern District in St. Louis, while Beth Phillips will work in Kansas City.
Callahan has spent the past six years as a circuit judge in Jefferson City, where he heard a variety of high-profile cases involving state government.
His docket has included ballot initiatives, the state takeover of the St. Louis public schools, and the battle over emails in former Governor Matt Blunt's office.
Beth Phillips has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Kansas City for more than a year, and has prosecuted many sex crime and child abuse cases.
Both her appointment and Callahan's will become official when President Obama signs the paperwork.
