Missouri's Senators Receive Committee Assignments

By AP/KWMU

Washington, D.C. – Missouri's two senators will delve into
energy policy and intelligence-gathering in the new Congress.

Republican Jim Talent says he will join the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Panel members are expected to craft a new version of the big energy bill that stalled last session.

Talent also will be on the Senate's new leadership team.

Majority Whip Mitch McConnell of Kentucky chose Talent as one of his deputies.

Kit Bond, also a Republican, takes a seat on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. The panel has access to some of the most confidential details about secretive US international information-gathering and operations.
