MO Attorney General Sues Two For Spamming

By Matt Sepic, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon has filed the first two lawsuits under the state's new anti-spam law. He's sued a Florida resident and a company in Boca Raton for allegedly sending unsolicited e-mail to a Missouri address. The Attorney General says despite criticism, the law is enforceable, and called on the legislature to toughen it, "If they'd give us the additional tool of a no-spam list, like we have in our no-call list, we could make a lot more progress than we're going to make on spam-two cases at a time, after seven-and-a-half weeks of investigative effort."

The law took effect in August, and requires commercial e-mail to be identified as such.
