Jefferson City, MO – Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has released a list of state construction and maintenance projects he wants to see completed over the next two years.

The $225-million list includes $18 million for upgrades to the Bellefountaine Rehabilitation Center in St. Louis, $46 million for various Department of Conservation projects, and $12 million for projects at state parks.

Nixon spokesman Jack Cardetti says this year's capital improvement budget is not as large as in past years.

"This is what we think is a solid one that spends things on the right priorities...we have some money in there for our veterans homes and veterans commissions...we have money in there for the School for the Blind," Cardetti said.

The most expensive item: Nearly $105 million for maintenance and repair at all state-owned facilities, which includes electrical repairs and upgrades at the State Capitol Building.

The federal stimulus package in Washington may allow more projects to be added.

"There's money for such things as some school construction, and other things like that...the goal is if that's going to get to Missouri, we want to get that out and started right away," Cardetti said.
