Jefferson City, MO – Legislation now headed to Governor Bob holden would allow Missourians to buy alcoholic drinks earlier on Sundays.
The legislation would allow liquor sales at 9 a.m. Sunday, instead of 11 a.m., at retail stores, restaurants and places of entertainment such as golf courses and pool halls.
The measure also allows for 8:00 a.m. sales at restaurants located at Kansas City's Truman Sports Complex, where the Royals and the Chiefs play. St. Louis already has an 8:00 start time.
The legislation also requires people who buy kegs of beer to provide their names, addresses and birthdates to the sellers. Supporters say the goal is to be able to find adults who buy kegs for teenaged parties.
Earlier Sunday sales would start on August 28th. The keg provision would take effect on July 1, 2004.
