Mo. Senate endorses adding cell phone numbers to No-Call list
There was little to no debate on the bill Monday and it was easily approved by voice-vote. The sponsor, State Senator Will Kraus (R, Lee's Summit), says the measure has failed in recent years because it was always paired with proposals to ban robo-calls.
“So we decided to try to de-couple them and try to move through this simple bill through the General Assembly," Kraus said. "No one wants to be harassed on their cell phone, so this just hopefully will become law this year.”
The bill needs one more vote by the full Senate before moving over to the Missouri House. Meanwhile, there’s also a separate bill in the Senate that would lump robo-calls and cell phone numbers together on the state’s no-call registry. Debate on that measure could begin as early as Tuesday.
