MoDOT contest educates Missourians about driving sober

The Missouri Department of Transportation is launching a contest to educate Missourians about the dangers and consequences of driving while intoxicated. The contest, "Drive Clear in the New Year" will run from Jan. 3-7, 2011.

Someone is killed or injured in an alcohol-related traffic crash every 1.7 hours in Missouri. According to MoDOT, a total of 281 people were killed and 1,141 seriously injured in crashes involving an impaired driver in 2009.

"This contest is another way to educate Missourians about the dangers of impaired driving. We hope Missourians will take the quiz and pledge to drive sober all year." - MoDOT Highway Safety Director Leanna Depue

By taking the quiz at the MoDOT website, and entering your name and contact information, participants will be automatically entered to win one of four $20 gas cards donated by MFA Oil/Break Time.

The sweepstakes is open to U.S. residents 18 years or older. Winners will be randomly drawn and announced by 5 p.m. Jan. 7.
