Monsanto Chief Resigns

St. Louis, MO – Monsanto president and chief executive Hendrik Verfaillie has resigned, effective immediately.

Monsanto, based in St. Louis, gives no reason for the resignation.

Board chairman Frank AtLee the Third will serve as interim chief executive while a search for a replacement is conducted.

Verfaillie has been with Monsanto for 26 years. He led the company through a merger with Pharmacia and Upjohn, then an initial
public offering, followed by the completion of the spinoff from Pharmacia earlier this year.
