Jefferson City, MO – A state commission approved funding for highway improvement projects for the next five years in Missouri.
The Transportation Improvement Program, which covers some 700 projects across the state, must still be approved by local planners.
Missouri Department of Transportation Spokesman, Chris Sutton, says the project will mean improvements in local roads.
"Over the next five years, the St. Louis area will receive between 750 and 800-million dollars for road improvement projects," Sutton said. "That number's actually down a little bit from past years because we no longer have some of the bond money available for projects and we have to start paying back some of those bonds."
The program includes improvements to Route 367 in north St. Louis County and Interstate 70 in St. Charles County.
