Neighborhood watchdogs keep tabs on vacant, foreclosed homes

St. Louis – In neighborhoods where foreclosures have left homes vacant and boarded-up, property values drop, the tax base erodes and crime may take root.

But what if residents fight back? What if people are aggressive in combating foreclosures by keeping an eye on houses that are abandoned?

As part of the KWMU series "Facing the Mortgage Crisis," Repps Hudson spoke with some St. Louis residents who are trying to protect their neighborhoods.
