Valmeyer, Ill. –

On August 2, 1993, rising floodwaters decimated the tiny village of Valmeyer, Illinois. No lives were lost, but most of the town's buildings were destroyed. After the flood, Valmeyer residents rebuilt their entire community on a high bluff above the floodplain.
