St. Louis – The NFL has unanimously approved allowing Stan Kroenke to take over the majority ownership of the St. Louis Rams.

The proposal is contingent, though, on Kroenke turning over control of his NBA and NHL teams in Denver to his son Josh Kroenke by the end of the year.

Kroenke already has 40% ownership of the Rams.

The NFL club owners voted Wednesday in favor of allowing Kroenke to buy the remaining 60%.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch sports reporter Jim Thomas was in Atlanta for the league owners' meeting. He says the owners know Kroenke and they like what he's done with his other sports teams.

"He's got a record of success with the hockey team the Colorado Avalanche and the NBA team the Denver Nuggets," Thomas said. "In the ten years he's owned those franchises they've been in the playoffs seven out of ten years or eight out of ten years."

Kroenke is buying the remaining ownership for $450 million from Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez, the children of former owner Georgia Frontiere.
