Jefferson City, MO – The belt-tightening process continues for Missouri state government.
Governor Jay Nixon has made good on a promise to cut spending by state agencies by $60 million, after revenues came up short this summer.

"These restrictions were across the board, they were such that they looked at more trimming (of) bureaucracy and keeping essential services intact...we believe these are restrictions that were necessary by the challenging revenue situations that we face," Holste said.
Holste adds that the Department of Social Services (DSS) took the biggest cut, at about $16 million.
The cuts also will affect state workers, as 200 positions will be eliminated or left unfilled.
