Paralyzed Rock Hill officer's recovery going faster than expected

By Rachel Lippmann, St. Louis Public Radio

St. Louis – A Rock Hill police officer paralyzed from the waist down after being shot in April is improving rapidly.

Matt Crosby will probably spend another month at St. John's Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital before going home, Rock Hill city manager George Liyeos said. Crosby, who has been at the hospital since he was shot, was originally expected to undergo inpatient rehab for as many as nine months. He's now using a machine that helps him stand to strengthen his legs.

Crosby was shot in the shoulder while responding to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in Rock Hill. The bullet passed through his body and came to rest on his spine. Doctors were able to remove the bullet, but Crosby remains paralyzed.
