Pioneering rapper MC Lyte and alt-rock band American Authors join Fair St. Louis line-up

Country, rock and R&B fans will all have a free night of entertainment tailored to their interests this summer during Fair St. Louis.

Additional artists performing at the fair were announced Thursday: alt-rock band American Authors, bluesy pop singer Noah Guthrie, R&B trio Tony! Toni! Toné! and pioneering female rapper MC Lyte. Local band Dirty Muggs will also take a turn on stage.

“It’ll be constant music, constant entertainment for anybody that wants to come down. So I think it’s a great cross-section of different types of artists, so there’s really something for everyone,” said Julie Mize, a vice president at Anheuser-Busch, which is sponsoring the performances.

The updated music line-up now includes:

Thursday, July 2 (Country)

·        Natalie Stovall and the Drive

·        Parmalee

·        Chris Young

Friday, July 3 (Rock)

·        Noah Guthrie

·        American Authors

·        Blondie

·        Melissa Etheridge

Saturday, July 4 (Rap, R&B)

·        Dirty Muggs

·        MC Lyte

·        Tony! Toni! Toné!

·        Morris Day and the Time

·        Kool & the Gang

American Authors is known for their 2014 single “Best Day of My Life.”

MC Lyte was nominated for a Grammy in 1994 for her hit “Ruffneck;” the first female rapper to earn a Grammy nod. She released a new album in April.

In addition to music, Fair St. Louis will offer a family zone, a zip line, nightly fireworks and stunts. Wake Challenge watersports will be returning to the fair to show off their skills, and they will be joined on land by stunt cyclist Chris Clark.

There will also be a four mile and one mile race early Saturday morning, followed by the 133rd annual Veiled Prophet parade.

Due to ongoing construction on the Gateway Arch grounds, Fair St. Louis will again be held at Forest Park this year.
